Job Overview:
The Accountant position at FHI 360 involves performing essential accounting functions that include recording, classifying, examining, and analyzing financial transactions. The role requires the individual to review and consolidate financial reports from the Country Office on a monthly basis, process journal entries, manage cash receipts, and handle wire payments. The Accountant will also respond to inquiries, assist in training sessions, maintain general ledger accounts, and produce various accounting reports. Additionally, the role includes participation in accounting projects such as audits and system upgrades, ensuring that the financial operations align with organizational standards and donor requirements. The Accountant is expected to apply accounting principles independently and manage cash activities, vendor payments, and financial reconciliations, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Accountant will independently apply accounting principles and practices across various functions, including forecasting and cost accounting. Key responsibilities include performing cash management activities, preparing payment vouchers, conducting advance reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with organizational and donor requirements. The Accountant will process vendor payments, maintain accurate payment documentation, and complete monthly financial reports for the Country Office, ensuring accuracy in cash and travel reconciliations. The role involves reconciling accounts, examining financial statements for accuracy and completeness, and maintaining subsidiary ledgers. The Accountant will assist in analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis projects, support internal and external audit requests, prepare risk assessment reports, and suggest improvements to accounting systems and processes. The position also requires the ability to identify and research substantive issues, prepare and interpret financial reports, and establish effective working relationships within the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and demonstrate the ability to compile, monitor, examine, and audit moderately complex financial statements and reports. Strong analytical and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to prepare and disseminate financial reports effectively. The role requires excellent communication skills to convey structured information clearly and concisely, tailored to the audience's needs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and computerized accounting software is mandatory, and candidates should be able to identify and resolve accounting issues while maintaining an appropriate audit trail for all transactions.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for the complex financial tasks the Accountant will undertake.

Experience:
Typically, candidates should have a minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience, which can be gained in a public accounting firm, NGO, government agency, or private organization. Experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is preferred, and familiarity with USG-funded projects is considered an advantage. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in spreadsheet software and possess strong analytical and organizational skills to succeed in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken French and Arabic is required for this position, as these languages are essential for effective communication within the organization and with stakeholders. A working knowledge of English is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage in broader communication and collaboration.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in a typical office environment, with the expectation of spending long hours at a computer and performing repetitive tasks. The role may require the ability to lift or move up to 5 lbs. Travel requirements are minimal, estimated at less than 10%. The expected hiring salary range for this role is MAD 160,000 - 220,000 for annual gross salary, with considerations for relevant experience and education, internal equity, market pay, and budget.
