Job Overview: The Integrated Maintenance Strategy Implementation Consultant position is focused on addressing significant challenges faced by many countries in maintaining critical health technologies at the primary health care (PHC) level. The consultant will work on developing, piloting, and operationalizing an integrated maintenance approach that encompasses various health technology domains. This role involves conducting baseline assessments, developing operational models, and strengthening capacity to ensure that health facilities can maintain essential services effectively. The consultant will also document lessons learned and create scalable models for broader adoption, ultimately aiming to improve equipment functionality and enhance service continuity in health systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and pilot an integrated maintenance approach for health technologies, ensuring coordination across multiple domains.
Conduct baseline assessments to identify current challenges and gaps in health technology maintenance.
Collaborate with national and sub-national stakeholders to implement pilot projects and provide technical assistance.
Generate evidence-based approaches tailored to different country contexts, including fragile settings.
Document lessons learned and develop scalable models for broader adoption.
Strengthen government ownership and improve technical capacity in health technology management.
Establish sustainable financing and governance mechanisms for health technology maintenance.
Enhance stakeholder engagement and coordination with ministries of health and other partners.
Develop high-quality technical documents, including operational frameworks and guidance documents. 1
Manage project timelines and deliverables effectively, working across multiple teams and time zones.
A Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master’s degree.
At least eight (8) years of relevant professional experience in immunization supply chain management, health systems strengthening, health technology management, or biomedical engineering, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
Proficiency in spoken and written English is required, with knowledge of French considered an asset.
Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and coordination with various health partners.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced University Degree (Master’s degree) in relevant fields such as Engineering, Public Health, Supply Chain, Business, or Public Administration. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree combined with 10 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master’s degree.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional experience in areas such as immunization supply chain management, health systems strengthening, health technology management, or biomedical engineering. Experience in low- and middle-income countries is essential, along with a proven track record of conducting health technology assessments and supporting pilot implementations.
Languages: Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of French is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.
