Job Overview: The Business Analyst position at CERN is designed for an experienced, agile-minded individual who is client-oriented and passionate about their work. The role is situated within the Business Computing Group, which is responsible for delivering information systems for all of CERN's business functions, including HR, Finance, Planning, Site Management, Purchasing, Logistics, and Accelerator Operations. The successful candidate will engage with agile teams, product managers, business partners, and users to understand their needs and provide optimal solutions. This position encompasses three main areas: solution analysis, strategic guidance, and relationship management. The Business Analyst will analyze business processes, develop documentation, guide teams in implementing improvements, and provide strategic recommendations to senior management based on performance indicators. This role is crucial for ensuring that CERN's business computing needs are met effectively and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities: As a Business Analyst, your responsibilities will include:
Analyzing business processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
Developing and maintaining business process documentation using BPMN and specialized business process modeling tools, including process flows and user requirements.
Guiding cross-functional teams in the implementation of process improvements and system enhancements.
Leading business analysis efforts to support strategic objectives and providing recommendations to senior management based on analysis findings.
Monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators to track progress towards organizational goals.
Collaborating with stakeholders to gather and prioritize business requirements.
Participating in BA/UX chapter activities, coordinating practices, and contributing to the continuous improvement of methodologies.
Supporting the development and coaching of team members.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's Degree or equivalent relevant experience in Business and Management, Design, Computer Science, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have experience in business analysis within business computing, a demonstrated knowledge of common business processes and best practices, and experience working in agile product management environments. Experience in coaching business analysts and specialists, as well as involvement in strategic product initiatives, is considered a valuable asset.
Educational Background: A Master's Degree or equivalent relevant experience in fields such as Business and Management, Design, Computer Science, or related disciplines is required for this position. This educational background ensures that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to perform effectively as a Business Analyst at CERN.
Experience: Candidates should have substantial experience in business analysis, particularly within business computing environments. This includes a solid understanding of common business processes and best practices, as well as experience in agile product management. Experience in coaching and mentoring other business analysts and specialists is also beneficial, as is familiarity with strategic product initiatives and high-level business framing.
Languages: Proficiency in spoken and written English or French is mandatory, with a commitment to learn the other language being essential. This bilingual requirement ensures effective communication within CERN's diverse workforce and enhances collaboration across various teams.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as a limited duration contract for 5 years, with the possibility of extension up to 8 years and eligibility for an indefinite contract tenure. Candidates should be prepared to work during nights, Sundays, and official holidays as required by the organization's needs.
