Job Overview: The position of Mécanicien(ne) at WFP involves performing maintenance and repair work on vehicles, generators, and other transport means and equipment used by the organization. Duties and Responsibilities: The Mécanicien(ne) will be responsible for the following duties:
Supervise the use of tools and spare parts from the workshop inventory for maintenance tasks.
Plan and organize workshop activities to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
Conduct regular inspections of vehicles and equipment to assess their mechanical condition and functionality using diagnostic techniques and tools.
Perform repairs on vehicles and equipment, including those damaged during field missions, while minimizing the risk of further damage or accidents.
Install and maintain advanced communication equipment in WFP vehicles, such as VHF radios and satellite tracking systems.
Accurately report on mechanical work performed, including any manufacturing defects encountered during repairs.
Maintain all repair tools and equipment in good condition and keep an updated inventory.
Provide technical advice to drivers and conduct on-the-job training for other mechanics to enhance their skills.
Ensure that all repaired vehicles are in good working order and meet safety standards. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed secondary education, supplemented by a technical training program in automotive maintenance or relevant mechanical/technical training. A valid driver's license or certificate allowing the use of utility vehicles or light vehicles in compliance with local regulations is also required. Candidates should possess strong technical skills and the ability to consult technical manuals and follow instructions for maintenance and repair tasks. They should be willing to stay updated on field developments and be proficient in using electronic diagnostic equipment and digital reference materials.
