Job Overview:
The logistics-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Officer for Corridor Coordination and Network Design in Southern Africa will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing corridor networks that serve multiple Country Offices (COs) in the region. This position is essential for ensuring that logistics operations are coordinated effectively across various stakeholders, facilitating the movement of food and supplies in a timely and efficient manner. The incumbent will be responsible for leading engagement with COs, analyzing logistics networks, identifying risks, and ensuring that corridor operations are aligned with WFP's strategic objectives. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The Logistics Officer will also contribute to the broader Global Corridors framework, supporting cross-regional initiatives and performance management activities as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary corridor coordination focal point for Southern Africa COs, ensuring structured engagement on corridor access, priorities, capacity constraints, and risks.
  • Facilitate corridor-level coordination mechanisms, including regular calls and issue tracking, to align CO plans and manage interdependencies across the network.
  • Contribute to corridor network design by analyzing entry points, inland routes, and operational configurations, ensuring decisions are based on comprehensive performance assessments.
  • Proactively identify operational risks affecting Southern Africa corridors and escalate issues through appropriate governance channels.
  • Collaborate with Planning & Optimization, Security, and other relevant units to ensure coherent planning inputs and operational guidance.
  • Ensure data quality and visibility of corridor performance, addressing any discrepancies that may affect analysis or coordination.
  • Support the implementation of GCOS standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to corridor management.
  • Provide surge support to other regions as required, contributing technical insights and analyses to inform global standards and practices.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical and systems thinking skills, with the ability to manage complex coordination across multiple Country Offices. Clear communication and documentation skills are essential, as is the ability to operate in politically sensitive environments. Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills are also required to effectively engage with various partners and ensure alignment across operations.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Economics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A first university degree with additional relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in logistics, supply chain management, corridor management, or humanitarian operations is required. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in multi-stakeholder coordination across regional or multi-country contexts, with experience in corridor analysis and logistics network design considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be advantageous but is not required.
