Job Overview:
In this role, you will be an integral member of the Web, DevOps, and Authoring section within the IT-PW group at CERN. This position involves managing and contributing to the continuous improvement of services provided to software engineers, including the GitLab service and AI coding tools. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of these services while actively supporting their users. Your contributions will include identifying and implementing improvements and new functionalities that benefit the user community. You will collaborate closely with development teams, providing expert guidance on integrating their applications with CI/CD pipelines, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a great user experience. Additionally, you will support the CERN developers' community with modern AI coding tools and stay updated on the evolution of technology in this exciting domain.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the smooth operation, maintenance, and continuous evolution of the GitLab service.
  • Identify, investigate, and implement possible improvements and new functionalities for the benefit of the user community.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to provide support for integrating their applications with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Actively listen to the needs of users, troubleshoot issues, and provide clear guidance on GitLab best practices.
  • Provide modern AI coding tools to the CERN developers' community and support their users.
  • Follow the evolution of technology and products in the AI coding tools domain.
  • Engage in proactive problem-solving and analytical tasks to identify challenges and drive innovative solutions.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure user satisfaction and continuous service improvement.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience with version control systems and CI/CD workflows.
  • Familiarity with container deployment and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and OpenShift.
  • Experience using AI coding tools, with management experience being a plus.
  • Previous experience with observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive mindset.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong commitment to user satisfaction, actively seeking feedback and collaborating with users to improve services.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software or Computer Engineering or a related field. Applicants without a university degree are not eligible, and those with a PhD are also not eligible for this position. The educational qualification must be completed by the application deadline.

Experience:
Applicants should have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in a relevant field. This experience should be related to software engineering or computer engineering, ensuring that candidates are well-prepared for the responsibilities of the role.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to learning French, which is considered beneficial for the role.

The contract duration is 24 months, with a possibility of extension up to a maximum of 36 months. The position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week and offers hybrid working hours. The target start date for this position is September 1, 202
