Job Overview:
The HR Process/Services Assistant will play a crucial role in the HR People eXperience and Engagement team at CERN. This position involves acting as the primary HR contact for graduate and student populations, providing expert advice and support throughout their contract lifecycle. The role requires collaboration with HR colleagues to ensure efficient back-office services and handling staff-related actions across key HR processes, including performance management. The assistant will contribute to enhancing the employee experience by streamlining HR procedures and supporting data-driven decision-making through reporting and trend analysis. Building strong relationships with stakeholders and delivering engaging presentations on HR topics are also key functions of this role. Participation in various HR projects will be expected, making this a dynamic and engaging position within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the main HR point of contact for graduate and student populations, providing expert advice and support throughout their contract lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues to deliver efficient back-office services, handling staff-related actions and queries across key HR processes.
  • Streamline HR procedures to enhance the employee experience at CERN.
  • Support data-driven decision-making by contributing to reporting and proactively identifying trends or issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring open dialogue to enhance services and processes.
  • Deliver engaging presentations on HR topics to various audiences.
  • Participate in and contribute to HR projects as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Higher Administrative diploma or equivalent relevant experience in HR Administration or a related field. Extensive experience in HR within an international environment is essential, particularly in multitasking and managing shifting priorities. The ability to assess HR situations independently, evaluate options, and suggest workable solutions is crucial, along with effective escalation when necessary. Technical competencies in employee relations, customer service, and proficiency in office software packages are required. Behavioral competencies include effective communication, teamwork, accountability, result orientation, and self-management.

Educational Background:
A Higher Administrative diploma or equivalent relevant experience in HR Administration or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for effective HR practices and administration.

Experience:
Candidates should have extensive experience in HR, particularly in an international context. This experience should include the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities effectively. The role requires independent assessment of HR situations, evaluating options, and suggesting practical solutions, as well as the ability to escalate issues when necessary.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory, with a commitment to learn French being a valuable asset. Proficiency in French will enhance communication within the diverse environment at CERN.

Additional Notes:
This position is a limited duration contract for 3 years, with the possibility of extension up to 8 years and eligibility for an indefinite contract tenure. The role requires a commitment of 40 hours per week and offers hybrid working flexibility. The job grade is classified as 3-4, and the reference for this position is HR-PXE-2026-105-LD.
