Job Overview: The Full-stack developer position is part of the School Meals Coalition (SMC) initiative, which aims to ensure that every child has access to a healthy meal in school. This role is crucial for the Data and Monitoring Initiative (DMI) within the SMC, which focuses on improving the availability and use of data related to national school meal programs worldwide. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining the SMC Database, which is essential for promoting evidence-based decision-making and tracking progress in school meal programs. The developer will work closely with various stakeholders to enhance the user interface and ensure that the database meets the needs of national governments and other partners involved in school meal initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be expected to perform a variety of tasks under the guidance of the Deputy Head of Data and Monitoring Initiative and the Head of IT Solution Development and Deployment. Key responsibilities include:
Assisting in data integration initiatives, processing, dashboards, analysis, and visualizations to enhance the functionality of the SMC Database.
Deploying and maintaining the SMC Database and its underlying data layers to ensure optimal performance and accessibility.
Supporting infrastructure maintenance activities as needed to keep the database running smoothly.
Contributing to the harmonization of tools and development patterns, following the direction of the Solution Architect, which includes code maintenance in version control, system management through automation, and deployment strategies.
Performing any other duties as required to support the overall objectives of the DMI and SMC.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong set of qualifications to be considered for this role. This includes a solid understanding of full-stack development, particularly with technologies such as React, Python, and AWS. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate proficiency in data visualization techniques and have experience in developing user-friendly interfaces. Familiarity with database management and data security best practices is also essential. Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or a related field is required for this position.
