Job Overview: The Resilience and Food Systems Officer position is based in the WFP Jalalabad Area Office and is crucial for supporting the Resilience and Food Systems (RFS) Unit. This role involves working under the direct supervision of the Head of Area Office or Programme Policy Officer, with a technical reporting line to the Country Office VAME team. The primary focus of this position is to enhance climate-adaptive food security and livelihood interventions in Afghanistan. The officer will be responsible for ensuring efficient program implementation, knowledge management, and coordination. This includes managing data, tracking program progress, monitoring financial aspects, and reporting on various operational metrics. The officer will play a vital role in facilitating program planning and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, thereby contributing to the overall mission of WFP in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Resilience and Food Systems Officer include but are not limited to: ensuring efficient documentation and knowledge management by maintaining organized records and databases; supporting systematic data management and reporting to enhance program visibility; monitoring program funding and expenditures to ensure effective resource utilization; assisting in budget analysis and grant management; facilitating resilience program planning by collecting and consolidating operational updates; supporting the review and refinement of implementation plans; coordinating mission planning and communication; collecting and validating program updates for periodic reporting; ensuring timely submission of key reports; supporting knowledge-sharing initiatives and learning events; and assisting other areas within the Resilience team as required. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with various stakeholders to achieve program objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of six years of relevant experience in program tracking, financial monitoring, or knowledge management within humanitarian or development settings. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data management and reporting are essential. Familiarity with WFP operational systems, such as SharePoint and program planning tools, is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills, as well as the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. A solid understanding of the WFP program cycle and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes completion of secondary school. An advanced university degree in Agriculture, Economics, Social Sciences, Development Economics, or related fields is preferred.
