Job Overview:
The Family Planning and Reproductive Health Commodity security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (FP and RHCS) Programme Analyst plays a crucial role in managing UNFPA-supported initiatives aimed at improving reproductive health commodity security in Eritrea. This position involves overseeing procurement planning, budgeting, inventory tracking, and logistics management, while also providing technical and programmatic support to national programs aimed at reducing unmet needs for family planning. The analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including government counterparts, UN agencies, and civil society, to enhance FP and RHCS initiatives and contribute to the overall goals of UNFPA. The role requires a deep understanding of the political, social, and economic landscape in Eritrea to effectively analyze trends and provide substantive inputs for integrated programming. The analyst will also be responsible for monitoring results against set targets and ensuring that resources are managed effectively to achieve program objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Analyst, FP and RHCS will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Collaborating with government counterparts and partners to formulate and design the country program and its Annual Work Plans (AWPs) focused on RHCS and Family Planning.
  • Ensuring the quality of program/project design by incorporating lessons learned and best practices.
  • Conducting analysis and research on the political, social, and economic situation in Eritrea to inform UNFPA programming processes.
  • Monitoring project expenditures and ensuring alignment with approved budgets.
  • Establishing collaborations with executing agencies and stakeholders to facilitate timely project implementation.
  • Generating knowledge about trends in RHCS and Family Planning for use in planning and decision-making.
  • Analyzing and interpreting the environment relevant to RHCS and identifying opportunities for UNFPA intervention.
  • Supporting the Ministry of Health in quantification and forecasting of RH commodities.
  • Assisting in advocacy and resource mobilization efforts by preparing documentation and developing communication strategies. 1
  • Managing financial processes and ensuring timely reporting of financial information.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in health, population, gender, development, supply chain and logistics, demography, law, or a related social science discipline, along with a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in development and population sectors. Alternatively, a Master's degree with at least two years of relevant experience is acceptable. Experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Supply Chain Management, and program/project management is preferred. A thorough understanding of the UN system and UNFPA's mandate is advantageous, as is the ability to work effectively in a team.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as health, population, gender, development, supply chain and logistics, demography, law, or a related social science discipline is required. A Master's degree is preferred and may substitute for some experience requirements. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their understanding of the complexities involved in reproductive health and rights.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in development and population sectors, with a preference for candidates who have experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Supply Chain Management, and program/project management. Field experience and prior work within the UN system are considered assets, as they provide valuable insights into the operational and strategic frameworks of UNFPA.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.
