Job Overview: The Electronics Technician position at CERN involves supporting the operation and reliability of the organization's electronics pool equipment. Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Electronics Technician include:
Testing electronics equipment and instrumentation to identify faults and implementing necessary firmware and hardware fixes.
Creating and correcting test procedure documentation as required to ensure accurate and efficient testing processes.
Maintaining both hardware and software of existing test benches in collaboration with responsible technicians to ensure they are up-to-date and functional.
Participating in the daily operations of the electronics pool service, providing occasional support to service users to enhance their experience and resolve any issues they may encounter.
Contributing to the evaluation of new devices and technologies that may improve the performance and reliability of CERN's electronics systems.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate a basic interest in the field of electronics and possess fundamental experience in testing, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment, including modular electronics and instrumentation. Experience in user support or customer-oriented services is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should have knowledge and application skills in instrumentation and measurement techniques, as well as operation and maintenance of data-acquisition, monitoring, and control systems. Familiarity with modular low and high-voltage power supplies is also required.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is a general secondary education diploma. Candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and should have a maximum of two years of professional experience in Electronics or a related field since graduation. It is important to note that applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree are not eligible for this position.

The job reference for this position is EP-ESE-BE-2026-69-GRAE. The compensation includes a monthly stipend of 4687 Swiss Francs (tax-free), 30 days of paid leave per year plus 2 weeks of annual closure, comprehensive health insurance coverage for the employee and their family, and a relocation package depending on individual circumstances. Additionally, on-the-job and formal training, including language classes, will be provided.
