Job Overview:
The role of the Online Video Editor Volunteer is crucial for enhancing the organization's outreach through engaging video content. Volunteers will collaborate with the social media team to produce high-quality videos that will be utilized for social media events and marketing campaigns. The expectation is to create one video per week, with each video being concise, typically under 10 minutes. The editing process will involve incorporating motion graphics, animations, and soundtracks to effectively convey the stories and messages of the organization. Volunteers will receive content from the social media team, ensuring that they have the necessary materials to create compelling videos. Additionally, volunteers are required to attend weekly team meetings to discuss progress and strategies, which are scheduled for Wednesdays at 10 am EST.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the social media team to understand the vision and objectives for each video project.
• Edit videos using provided content, ensuring high-quality production standards.
• Incorporate motion graphics, animations, and soundtracks to enhance storytelling.
• Produce one video per week, adhering to deadlines and quality expectations.
• Participate in weekly team meetings to discuss project updates, challenges, and feedback.
• Stay updated on the latest video editing trends and techniques to continuously improve the quality of the content produced.
• Ensure that all video content aligns with the organization's mission and branding guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

• Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of motion graphics and animation techniques.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with the social media team.
• A passion for storytelling and a commitment to the organization's mission of empowering communities.

Educational Background:
While formal education is not strictly required, a background in media production, film studies, or a related field is preferred. Relevant coursework or certifications in video editing and production will be advantageous.

Experience:
Previous experience in video editing, whether through internships, volunteer work, or personal projects, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a portfolio of past video work that showcases their editing skills and creativity.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communication and content will be in English. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in Southern Africa may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position, and as such, it is unpaid. The role is flexible and can be performed remotely, allowing volunteers to work from anywhere. The commitment is approximately one video per week, with additional time required for team meetings and feedback sessions.
