Job Overview: The position of International Consultant for Women's Economic Empowerment involves supporting private sector partners in Armenia to implement the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs). The consultant will work closely with the Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) team to design and deliver a comprehensive training program aimed at enhancing the understanding and application of the WEPs among businesses. This role is crucial in addressing the challenges faced by women in the South Caucasus, particularly in terms of economic empowerment and participation in decision-making processes. The consultant will be responsible for creating a multi-component intervention that includes training sessions, practical assignments, and tailored coaching to facilitate the adoption of gender-responsive corporate policies. The overarching goal is to empower women, especially those who are poor and socially excluded, to access economic opportunities and participate fully in the labor market.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
Developing and submitting a comprehensive inception report and workplan in consultation with UN Women, outlining objectives, deliverables, milestones, and monitoring indicators.
Designing and delivering a series of 7 weekly online training sessions, each focused on one of the 7 WEPs principles, including the adaptation of training materials and integration of best practices.
Conducting two in-depth thematic trainings on Unconscious Bias and Gender-Responsive Marketing, complete with tailored agendas and materials.
Creating a practical WEPs implementation tool with structured exercises and weekly assignments for participating companies, along with providing feedback and progress notes.
Facilitating a session on the WEPs Gap Analysis tool to guide companies in developing gender action plans.
Offering targeted coaching and technical support to selected companies to strengthen their gender-responsive policies and practices.
Preparing and submitting a final report that outlines the implementation process, results, and recommendations for future actions.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (at least a Master's) in fields such as Economics, Sociology, Law, Gender, Human Rights, or Labor Relations. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with 9 years of relevant experience may be accepted. The consultant should have at least 7 years of professional experience in gender equality and women's rights, with a strong background in providing capacity development trainings on gender equality to various stakeholders, including the private sector. Familiarity with the Women’s Empowerment Principles and experience in delivering related trainings are essential. Previous work with UN agencies or international organizations is considered a strong asset.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master's level) in relevant fields such as Economics, Sociology, Law, Gender Studies, Human Rights, or Labor Relations is required. A first-level university degree combined with extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a Master's degree, or at least 9 years for those with a Bachelor's degree. This experience should include a strong focus on gender equality and women's rights, particularly in providing capacity development trainings to various stakeholders, including private sector representatives. Demonstrated knowledge of the Women’s Empowerment Principles and experience in delivering trainings on these principles are critical for success in this role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required.
