Job Overview:
The Consultant will play a crucial role in designing and delivering high-quality, interactive Sprint training sessions aimed at enhancing the competencies of UN personnel in key capability areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Strategic Foresight, Data and Evidence, and Digital Collaboration and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Information Security. The training sessions are intended to be practical, interactive, and results-oriented, focusing on producing reusable outputs that can be applied across multiple UN entities. The Consultant will be responsible for preparing detailed session plans, facilitating training delivery, and ensuring that participants develop actionable tools and knowledge products that strengthen organizational capabilities. The consultancy is expected to take place over a period of 12 days, covering the design, delivery, and reporting phases of the Sprint sessions, with the Consultant based in Praia, Cabo Verde, and delivering sessions in person at the United Nations House.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of the Data Management Officer (RCO Cabo Verde), the Consultant will undertake the following tasks: A. Session Design: Develop training content aligned with UN 2.0 capability areas, including Artificial Intelligence, Strategic Foresight, Data and Evidence, and Digital Collaboration and Information Security. Prepare session agendas (2 hours per Sprint), presentations, live demonstrations, practical exercises based on real UN use cases, and tools, templates, and guidance materials. B. Training Delivery: Facilitate in-person Sprint sessions at the UN House in Praia, applying interactive methodologies such as hands-on exercises, group work, and live demonstrations. Ensure sessions are practical, participatory, and tailored to a multi-agency UN audience. C. Facilitation of Practical Outputs: Guide participants in producing tangible outputs, including AI prompt packs, foresight trend maps, data quality checklists, and secure collaboration practices. Ensure outputs are reusable and adaptable across UN entities and functional areas. D. Reporting and Knowledge Management: Submit a brief report following each Sprint session, including a summary of the session, key outputs developed, and recommendations for follow-up. Provide all training materials in editable formats for institutional use.
Required Qualifications:
The position requires an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in data science, information management, public administration, development studies, or a related field. A first-level university degree with additional relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Candidates must have at least two years of relevant experience in training design and facilitation, with demonstrated experience in at least two of the following areas: Artificial Intelligence, Strategic foresight, Data management and analysis, and Digital collaboration and/or information security. Experience working with the United Nations or international organizations is desirable, and proven experience delivering interactive, hands-on training sessions is required.
Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in fields such as data science, information management, public administration, development studies, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with additional relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree, ensuring that candidates have a solid educational foundation to support their expertise in the required areas.
Experience:
The position requires at least two years of relevant experience in training design and facilitation. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in at least two of the following areas: Artificial Intelligence, Strategic foresight, Data management and analysis, and Digital collaboration and/or information security. Experience working with the United Nations or international organizations is considered an asset, as is proven experience in delivering interactive, hands-on training sessions that engage participants and foster learning.
Languages:
Fluency in both Portuguese and English is required for this position. This bilingual proficiency is essential for effective communication during training sessions and for the development of training materials that cater to a diverse audience within the UN system. Candidates who possess additional language skills may have an advantage, but the primary requirement is fluency in these two languages to ensure clarity and understanding during the training process.
