Job Overview: The Consortium Manager position at DRC is a critical role that involves leading a consortium of partners in the implementation of a project aimed at supporting the resilience of communities affected by forced displacement due to conflict in Sudan. This position is based in Gadaref, Sudan, and will also involve travel to Benishangul Gumuz in Ethiopia. The Consortium Manager will report directly to the Operations Director and will work closely with the Inclusive Systems Coordinator, MEAL Coordinator, and Finance Coordinator. The role encompasses overall strategy and implementation, management of the Consortium Management Unit, and ensuring that project activities and deliverables align with the expectations set by the Steering Committee. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering collaboration among a diverse team of technical specialists and maintaining positive relationships with various stakeholders, including community members, local authorities, and donor agencies. The position requires a forward-thinking individual who embraces learning and adaptive management practices, with a strong understanding of inclusive system approaches and gender transformative programming.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consortium Manager will be responsible for the leadership, oversight, and management of the project throughout its lifecycle, ensuring alignment with award objectives and donor compliance requirements. Key responsibilities include serving as the secretary to the Steering Committee, leading project delivery, managing team performance, and ensuring robust coordination between DRC and its partners. The Consortium Manager will oversee risk management, maintain communication with the donor, and represent the project in various meetings and events. Additionally, the role involves ensuring that safety and security plans are implemented and adapted as necessary, fostering a culture of risk management, and ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged in project management strategies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least 7 years of experience in international humanitarian and/or development aid, ideally in a similar role such as Consortium Manager, Project Manager, or Programme Advisor. A minimum of 3 years of experience in people management is required, along with demonstrated experience in managing large multi-location programs in complex environments. Technical expertise in inclusive systems, health and nutrition, protection and gender, peacebuilding, or resilience programming in fragile contexts is essential. Candidates should also have experience in project management, budget monitoring, financial forecasting, and risk management, as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
Educational Background: A degree in political science, international development, social work, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">humanitarian law, migration, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in relevant areas may be preferred.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in international humanitarian and/or development aid, with a strong emphasis on leadership roles. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing multi-partner teams and large-scale programs in challenging operating environments.
Languages: Full professional proficiency in English is essential for this role. Proficiency in Amharic, Arabic, or French is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the position.
Additional Notes: This is a national contract position with a duration of 12 months. The salary range starts from USD 3,173, and the duty station is Gadaref, with frequent travel to Benishangul Gumuz and Addis Ababa.
