Job Overview: The position of GEA-Consultant for Leadership Skills and Advocacy is designed to enhance leadership capabilities and advocacy strategies within the context of UNDP's mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The consultant will be responsible for developing and implementing training programs aimed at improving leadership skills among local stakeholders. This role requires a deep understanding of the socio-political landscape in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the ability to engage with diverse groups, including government officials, civil society organizations, and community leaders. The consultant will work closely with UNDP teams to align training initiatives with broader development goals and ensure that advocacy efforts are effectively communicated and supported. The assignment is expected to last for seven months, from May 2026 to November 2026, and will involve travel to key cities such as Sarajevo, Tuzla, Banja Luka, and Mostar to facilitate workshops and training sessions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Conducting a needs assessment to identify gaps in leadership skills among local stakeholders.
Designing and delivering tailored training programs that address identified needs and promote effective leadership practices.
Collaborating with UNDP staff and local partners to develop advocacy strategies that support leadership initiatives.
Facilitating workshops and training sessions in various locations, ensuring active participation and engagement from attendees.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and advocacy efforts, providing recommendations for improvement.
Preparing detailed reports on training outcomes and advocacy impact, presenting findings to UNDP management and stakeholders.
Engaging with local communities to foster a culture of leadership and advocacy, encouraging sustainable practices and community involvement.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong set of qualifications to be considered for this position. These include:
Proven experience in leadership development and advocacy, preferably within the context of international development.
Strong understanding of the political and social dynamics in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement training programs that yield measurable results.
Proficiency in project management, including planning, execution, and evaluation of initiatives.
Familiarity with UNDP's mission and values, as well as its operational frameworks.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background is essential for this role. Candidates should have at least a Master's degree in a related field such as international development, public administration, social sciences, or a similar discipline. Experience: The position requires a significant level of experience, ideally a minimum of 5-7 years in leadership development, advocacy, or related fields. Candidates should have a track record of successfully implementing training programs and engaging with stakeholders at various levels, including government and civil society. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of Bosnia and Herzegovina or similar regions, will be highly regarded.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Bosnian is mandatory for this position, as effective communication with local stakeholders and international partners is crucial.
