Job Overview:
The Fisheries Analyst position is crucial for the implementation of fisheries development and management projects in Lebanon. The Analyst will provide analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">technical analysis and operational support under the guidance of the Fisheries coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Coordinator. This role involves both desk-based analysis and field engagement, where the Analyst will compile and process fisheries sector data, produce technical reports, and maintain project documentation. The Analyst will also engage directly with fishing cooperatives and communities, monitor aquaculture project sites, and collect evidence to inform planning and reporting. The position requires managing multiple workstreams simultaneously and adapting priorities as directed by the Fisheries Technical Coordinator, ensuring that the fisheries and aquaculture programme is effectively supported and implemented.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Fisheries Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks including compiling and analyzing fisheries sector data from multiple sources, supporting the preparation of value chain analyses, market assessments, and situation analyses. The Analyst will contribute technical fisheries data to FAO Lebanon's corporate reporting requirements and donor reports. Field monitoring visits to aquaculture project sites will be conducted to assess production performance and document findings. The Analyst will also support the design, planning, and monitoring of aquaculture interventions, engage with fishing cooperatives and communities, liaise with national counterparts, and assist in the preparation of donor progress reports and project financial reports. Additionally, the Analyst will maintain monitoring and data management systems, participate in project review meetings, and provide comprehensive administrative assistance to the project.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Sciences, Fisheries Management, Aquaculture, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Rural Development, Business Administration, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in fisheries or aquaculture development, natural resource management, agriculture development, or rural development is required, preferably in a coastal or inland fisheries context. Candidates must also have a working knowledge of English and Arabic, both at level C, and must be nationals of Lebanon.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields such as Marine Sciences, Fisheries Management, Aquaculture, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Rural Development, or Business Administration. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of fisheries and aquaculture systems and for effectively contributing to the FAO's mission in Lebanon.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant experience in fisheries or aquaculture development, natural resource management, agriculture development, or rural development. Experience should preferably be in a coastal or inland fisheries context, demonstrating the ability to engage with fishing communities and manage project activities effectively.

Languages:
Candidates must have a working knowledge of English (level C) and Arabic (level C). Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication and engagement with local communities and stakeholders in Lebanon.
