Job Overview: The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">MEAL Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems within the organization. The MEAL Coordinator will work closely with various teams across NRC’s Core Competencies and Area Offices, providing technical support and contributing to capacity building efforts. The role involves ensuring that relevant and timely information is accessible to inform design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and adjustments, thereby enhancing the quality of programming. The MEAL Coordinator will also be responsible for developing and implementing MEAL systems, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidance, and tools, and will participate in program design discussions, contributing to the development of theories of change and log frames.
Duties and Responsibilities: The MEAL Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including adherence to NRC policies and procedures, supporting the development and implementation of MEAL systems, and participating in program design discussions. Specific duties include establishing and following up on monitoring plans for projects, preparing detailed implementation plans and MEAL matrices, performing monthly data quality checks, ensuring timely reporting of project information, representing MEAL in meetings, and supporting program staff in executing MEAL activities. The Coordinator will also conduct need assessments, baseline and end-line surveys, and program evaluations, while training and supervising enumerators. Additionally, the role involves supporting the use of digital data collection methods and operationalizing MEAL Standard Operating Procedures.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least 5 years of experience in an international NGO, preferably in emergency or post-conflict settings, with 2-3 years specifically in implementing MEAL systems. A Bachelor's Degree is required, along with thorough knowledge of MEAL principles and approaches in relief and development programs. Candidates should demonstrate experience in capacity building, knowledge transfer, and possess strong analytical and computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and experience with PowerBi. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as cultural awareness and sensitivity, are essential for this role.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree is the minimum educational requirement for the MEAL Coordinator position. Candidates with advanced degrees in relevant fields such as social sciences, international development, or statistics may be preferred, as they can provide a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in monitoring and evaluation processes.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an international NGO, with a strong emphasis on emergency or post-conflict settings. Additional Notes: The position offers a monthly salary based on NRC Afghanistan's salary scale, along with medical coverage for staff and up to four dependents.
