Job Overview:
The Project Manager will lead and coordinate the implementation of the Adaptation Fund project, ensuring that all activities align with the project work plan and objectives. This role involves organizing a regional workshop focused on coastal climate adaptation, overseeing the development of a digital knowledge platform for regional knowledge exchange, and ensuring effective project monitoring and reporting. The Project Manager will also support regional initiatives on marine and coastal resilience, strengthen partnerships with various institutions, and prepare technical documentation to facilitate coordinated action. The position requires a proactive approach to engage stakeholders and contribute to the development of regional strategies supporting the Abidjan Convention.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the implementation of the Adaptation Fund project, organizing workshops, overseeing the development of knowledge platforms, and coordinating the preparation of regional knowledge products. The role includes ensuring effective project monitoring and reporting, supporting regional initiatives on marine and coastal resilience, strengthening partnerships with regional and international institutions, preparing technical documentation, facilitating consultations and policy dialogues, and contributing to the development of regional strategies and action plans. The Project Manager will also document lessons learned and emerging practices in coastal climate adaptation, ensuring that the project meets its objectives and delivers impactful results.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first university degree in environmental sciences, marine affairs, oceanography, geography, biology, natural resource management, climate change, international development, or a related field. A combination of a first university degree with two years of professional and academic qualifications may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Additionally, at least two years of progressively responsible experience in coastal zone management, marine conservation, climate adaptation, or related areas is required. Demonstrated experience in regional or international cooperation mechanisms and working with coastal communities or national institutions is desirable.

Educational Background:
A first university degree in relevant fields such as environmental sciences, marine affairs, oceanography, geography, biology, natural resource management, climate change, or international development is required. Candidates with a combination of a first university degree and two years of relevant professional experience may also be considered. An advanced degree in these fields is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience:
The position requires at least two years of progressively responsible experience in areas related to coastal zone management, marine conservation, or climate adaptation. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in project development, management, monitoring, and reporting, as well as experience working with coastal communities and regional organizations. Familiarity with regional or international cooperation mechanisms is also desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English and French is required, as these are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of any other UN language is considered an asset and is desirable for this position.

The expected duration of the contract is 12 months. The position is full-time and involves working within the framework of the Abidjan Convention.
