Job Overview:
The Advocacy Coordinator will play a pivotal role in leading the design and implementation of DRC Ukraine’s advocacy strategy. This position is crucial for ensuring that the voices and needs of affected populations are integrated into DRC’s positioning, external engagement, and policy influence. The role emphasizes evidence-based advocacy and aims to foster coherence between programs, policy, and communications while aligning with DRC’s global advocacy priorities and humanitarian principles. The Advocacy Coordinator will report directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and will work closely with program teams and the communications unit to ensure that advocacy efforts are effectively integrated into all aspects of DRC’s operations in Ukraine.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Advocacy Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and updating DRC Ukraine’s advocacy strategy in alignment with program priorities and the evolving context in Ukraine. Key responsibilities include advising the Country Director and Senior Management Team on advocacy priorities, risks, and opportunities; ensuring that advocacy objectives are evidence-based; producing various advocacy materials such as crisis briefs, reports, and policy recommendations; participating in inter-agency advocacy working groups; maintaining awareness of national and regional developments; and contributing to global and regional advocacy initiatives. The role also involves liaising with key stakeholders, coordinating advocacy messaging, and promoting the participation of affected populations in advocacy efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field and have at least 3 years of experience working in advocacy related to humanitarian issues, refugee rights, and human rights. They should have a proven track record in influencing and advocacy work, including lobbying and policy development. Experience in advocating within complex international conflicts and displacement crises is essential, along with extensive knowledge of DRC’s core sectors. Candidates should demonstrate excellent skills in advocating towards government stakeholders and have a strong understanding of human rights and international law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">humanitarian law.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in a relevant subject is required for this position. This educational background should ideally be complemented by specialized training or coursework related to humanitarian advocacy, human rights, or international relations, which would enhance the candidate's ability to perform effectively in this role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in advocacy, particularly in humanitarian contexts. Candidates should have experience in developing and implementing advocacy strategies, as well as a strong understanding of the political and humanitarian landscape in Ukraine and the surrounding region. Demonstrated experience in context analysis and the ability to navigate complex political environments are also critical for success in this role.

Languages:
Full proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of the Ukrainian language is considered an asset, as it would facilitate communication and engagement with local stakeholders and affected populations.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability, following a successful 3-month probation period. The position is classified as non-management and is based in Kyiv, which is designated as a non-family duty station. The role may require frequent travel across Ukraine. The start date for this position is as soon as possible, and the salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for both national and international employees.
