Job Overview: The Investment Analyst position at IFC involves a multifaceted role that requires coordination with various internal stakeholders to develop investment, upstream, and advisory projects targeting potential Japanese clients. The analyst will be responsible for preparing presentation materials in both English and Japanese, facilitating business development meetings, and conducting research to understand the financing needs of clients across multiple industries such as infrastructure, manufacturing, and banking. The role also includes preparing investment committee materials, analyzing financial statements, building financial models, and gathering benchmarking information to support investment decisions. The analyst will need to demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and knowledge sharing, as well as the ability to multitask and report to multiple internal stakeholders regularly.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Investment Analyst include: coordinating with internal stakeholders to develop investment and advisory projects; preparing presentation slides in English and Japanese; arranging and attending business development meetings; planning and coordinating logistics for high-level meetings; researching financing needs for potential clients; preparing investment committee materials; analyzing financial statements and projections; building financial models and running sensitivities; gathering project and sector benchmarking information; identifying data collection needs for investment assessments; ensuring compliance with IFC’s policies and procedures; identifying key stakeholders for business development; extracting lessons from previous investments; multitasking and reporting to multiple stakeholders; and taking initiatives to create transactions.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field such as business, finance, or economics, along with 2-3 years of relevant experience. This experience may include business consulting, investment banking, commercial banking, private equity, or operational experience in a relevant sector. Candidates should demonstrate strong skills in financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and market analysis, as well as attention to detail and a proactive approach to client relationship management.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with specialized expertise in a specific sector or industry will also be considered. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding financial transactions and market dynamics.
Experience: The position requires at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in fields such as business consulting, investment banking, commercial banking, or private equity. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in environments that require financial analysis and client engagement, demonstrating the ability to support informed decision-making through financial modeling and market analysis.
Languages: Fluency in English and Japanese is mandatory, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
