Job Overview:
The position of Asistente de Programas at WFP involves supporting the implementation of humanitarian programs and projects aimed at addressing food insecurity and malnutrition in vulnerable populations in Colombia. The role requires the individual to work closely with senior program associates to coordinate programmatic and operational aspects of various initiatives. The Asistente de Programas will be responsible for ensuring that technical and operational support processes are effectively executed, particularly in emergency response and early recovery efforts. This position is crucial for the successful delivery of WFP's mission in the region, as it directly impacts the lives of individuals affected by conflict, disasters, and other crises. The Asistente de Programas will also play a key role in fostering partnerships with local communities, government entities, and other stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of WFP's interventions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate capacity strengthening processes for WFP staff, cooperating partners, government entities, and participating communities.
  • Monitor the budget execution of assigned projects, ensuring the appropriate and timely use of allocated resources, and generating early alerts for potential delays.
  • Oversee the management of information shared by cooperating partners regarding beneficiaries, transferred resources, and product indicator reporting across various WFP platforms, ensuring data quality and traceability in coordination with field offices.
  • Prepare, consolidate, and/or support the development of technical and narrative reports required by WFP or donors, contributing insights for internal reports, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Ensure timely responses to monitoring findings and requests received through community feedback mechanisms (SUGAR platform, findings matrix, and other relevant platforms).
  • Support the implementation of affirmative actions in programs and projects that promote equitable access for women and men to decision-making spaces and food markets, engaging communities, associations, public procurement programs, local governments, and other civil society actors.
  • Coordinate field visit plans and technical missions, ensuring collaboration with partners, communities, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist with other program-related tasks as required by supervision, contributing to the achievement of WFP's strategic objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum required qualifications include completion of secondary education. A professional degree in social sciences, law, international relations, business administration, economics, or related fields is desirable. Candidates should possess strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Knowledge of humanitarian principles and practices, as well as experience in project management, is essential. Familiarity with WFP's operational context and the challenges faced by vulnerable populations in Colombia will be advantageous.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed at least secondary education, with a preference for those holding a professional degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, law, international relations, business administration, or economics. Experience:
The position requires a minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in humanitarian response projects, migration, rural development, or food security and nutrition. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of working effectively in challenging environments and managing multiple priorities.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position. Intermediate knowledge of English is desirable, as it will facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse communities and partners.

The contract duration for this position is six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and available funding.
