Job Overview:
The (Associate) Investment Officer position within the Energy Investments, Solutions & Impact team (KIESI) at the World Bank Group is designed to support the structuring and execution of investments in the energy sector. This role involves collaborating with various teams to promote best practices in investment decision-making and to contribute to the development of innovative financing solutions that address market gaps. The officer will engage with private sector clients, providing sector knowledge and expertise to mobilize private capital and manage key global clients. The position requires a strong understanding of energy sector dynamics and the ability to synthesize market trends, risks, and opportunities to inform strategic decision-making within the WBG.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the (Associate) Investment Officer include working closely with team members and the Knowledge Bank to support IFC investment teams globally in structuring various financial instruments such as debt, equity, and blended finance. The officer will contribute to the execution of new IFC investment transactions, which involves preparing investment proposals, conducting due diligence, and performing detailed financial, market, and risk analyses. Additionally, the officer will support knowledge-sharing initiatives, provide insights on market trends, and help develop and implement WBG strategies to promote private sector participation in energy segments. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to identify high-impact investment opportunities is also a key responsibility.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the (Associate) Investment Officer position must possess an advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field relevant to investment, energy, and/or infrastructure. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in commercial banking, investment banking, private equity, or industry roles focused on energy or infrastructure projects is required. Strong quantitative skills with expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and structuring complex investment transactions, particularly in energy or infrastructure sectors, are essential. The candidate should demonstrate strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with a proven track record of delivering results in dynamic environments. Familiarity with multiple financial products, including project/corporate finance and equity, is also necessary.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field that is relevant to investment, energy, and infrastructure. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of financial transactions and the energy sector.

Experience:
