Job Overview:
The Accounting Specialist position involves performing essential accounting functions that include recording, classifying, examining, and analyzing financial transactions. The role requires the individual to review and consolidate financial reports from the Country Office on a monthly basis, process journal entries, manage cash receipts, and handle wire payments. The specialist will also respond to inquiries, assist in training sessions, maintain general ledger accounts, and produce various accounting reports. Participation in accounting projects such as audits and system upgrades is also expected. The position demands a thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as the ability to apply this knowledge to support field programs and ensure compliance with financial guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Accounting Specialist include applying accounting principles to a range of fiscal functions, providing support for field programs through training on financial systems, reviewing monthly financial reports for accuracy, and reconciling accounts. Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in a public accounting firm or large company is required. Proficiency in spreadsheet software is essential, along with excellent analytical and organizational skills. Candidates should be fluent in English, both written and spoken, and prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is preferred. Team lead experience is also advantageous.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in a relevant field such as Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of financial transactions and accounting principles necessary for the role.

Experience:
The position requires at least 3 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally gained in a public accounting firm or a large corporate environment. This experience should encompass a variety of accounting functions and demonstrate the ability to handle complex financial data and reporting.
