Job Overview: The Monitoring Assistant position at WFP involves conducting monitoring activities within a specific coverage area and presenting reports to support the effective delivery of assistance measures. The Monitoring Assistant will coordinate actions necessary for the proper implementation of WFP activities aimed at assisting vulnerable populations facing food insecurity. Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Monitoring Assistant include:
Verifying planned movements and distribution of food or non-food items, promptly communicating any issues or discrepancies to the supervisor.
Coordinating necessary actions in the specific coverage area for the effective implementation of WFP activities related to food assistance for vulnerable populations.
Keeping databases and project files updated, managing complaints/requests, and reviewing information in WFP's corporate systems.
Monitoring the execution of agreements with implementing partners and counterparts involved in providing assistance to vulnerable populations.
Supporting the preparation of agendas, schedules, and activity roadmaps for donor visits and institutional events.
Participating in coordination meetings with local actors, national representatives, and UN agencies to ensure complementary interventions.
Assisting in the implementation of training plans for WFP-assisted populations.
Ensuring compliance with WFP policies on fraud prevention and protection against sexual exploitation and abuse. 1

Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Monitoring Assistant position include a strong understanding of WFP's monitoring and evaluation policies and strategies. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to apply WFP's performance management system effectively, managing resources and relationships while conducting clear and precise evaluations of operations and programs. Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative methodologies for data collection is essential, as well as the ability to analyze and visualize data related to programmatic activities. Candidates should also possess the skills to gather, organize, and facilitate information about products, processes, and effects of programs, ensuring compliance with WFP's quality standards.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a minimum of a tertiary level qualification. Preference will be given to those with higher education in human or social sciences, economics, international relations, or fields related to food security and nutrition. Relevant studies that align with WFP's operational management in the field will be considered an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of four years of relevant experience in social programs, with at least two years in fieldwork involving monitoring and implementation of projects with vulnerable populations. Experience in international cooperation, food security and nutrition projects, or direct contact with beneficiaries will be positively evaluated. Additionally, experience in coordinating projects and activities with governmental authorities and national/international NGOs in the field is desirable. A valid driver's license and at least one year of driving experience are required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written Spanish is mandatory. An intermediate level of English (reading) and a basic level (oral and written) are desirable.
Additional Notes: The position is a service contract (SC-L4) with a duration of 12 months, based in Loja, Ecuador.
