Job Overview:
The Driver position at WHO involves providing transportation services for authorized personnel to various destinations, including field visits. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be tasked with the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Drive office vehicles to transport authorized personnel to various destinations, including field visits.
  • Meet and assist official personnel and visitors at the airport, providing support with visa, customs, and other formalities as required, ensuring compliance with WHO rules, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and safety procedures.
  • Deliver, collect, and facilitate customs clearance of official pouches, as well as hand-deliver mail, parcels, and heavy items to or from UN agencies, ministries, embassies, universities, and the airport.
  • Ensure daily maintenance of vehicles, including checking fuel, oil, battery, brakes, and tyres; perform minor repairs and arrange for major repairs; maintain vehicle cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Record and maintain accurate logs of official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, greasing, and other required information.
  • Keep all vehicle-related documents and supplies up to date, including insurance, license, registration, office directory, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
  • Procure minor office supplies, obtain invoices for local purchases, and arrange payment of office telephone and other bills, as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Driver position include:
  • Completion of secondary education or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid Libyan professional driving license for light and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and skills in operating and maintaining different types of vehicles.
  • Good knowledge of the topography of Libya and full proficiency in local traffic regulations.
  • Proven ability to deal with clients with tact and respect for diversity.
  • Competencies in teamwork, communication, and self-management as outlined by WHO.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position is the completion of secondary education or an equivalent qualification. This foundational education is essential for understanding the responsibilities associated with driving and vehicle maintenance.

Experience:
Candidates must have at least two years of professional experience driving cars and heavy-duty vehicles. This experience is crucial for ensuring that the driver is familiar with the operational requirements and safety protocols associated with transporting personnel and goods.

Languages:
While proficiency in Arabic is essential due to the local context, knowledge of English is desirable as it facilitates communication within the international framework of WHO. Candidates who can communicate in additional languages may have an advantage in this role.

This position is subject to local recruitment, meaning it will be filled by individuals residing in the local commuting area of Benghazi. The role offers an annual net base salary starting at USD 13,517, which is subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Employees are entitled to 30 days of annual leave.
