Job Overview:
The TikTok Platform Manager will play a crucial role in WFP's Social Media team, focusing on the strategic and tactical aspects of vertical video content and emerging social platforms, particularly TikTok. This position requires a deep understanding of the platform's dynamics, including trends, editing techniques, and audience engagement strategies. The Platform Manager will be responsible for overseeing WFP's TikTok account, ensuring the production of high-quality content that drives follower growth and engagement. This role also involves developing and implementing a vertical video content strategy across various platforms, monitoring trends and algorithm changes, and providing guidance to regional and country offices on content creation. The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in content creation, community management, and analytics to enhance WFP's social media presence and effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Platform Manager will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:
  • Platform Management & Vertical Video Strategy: Overseeing WFP's TikTok account, ensuring consistent and high-quality content; developing and implementing a vertical video content strategy across TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other emerging platforms; monitoring platform trends and algorithm changes; adhering to vertical video best practices; testing new platforms and formats.
  • Content Creation & Production: Editing and producing vertical video content using in-platform editing tools; being a representative face of WFP on TikTok; collaborating with the Content Strategist and Community Manager to create platform-native content; packaging existing WFP content for vertical formats; creating both paid and organic vertical video content.
  • Community Management & Engagement: Monitoring comments and mentions on TikTok; building interactions by responding to comments and engaging with followers; supporting the Social Media Community Manager in executing the platform strategy; escalating issues to the Social Media Manager.
  • Analytics & Insights: Understanding platform-specific metrics; conducting regular assessments of vertical video performance; providing monthly reports on growth and engagement; identifying patterns and best practices.
  • Content Library & Resource Management: Building and maintaining a vertical video content library; developing templates and toolkits for regional and country offices; coordinating with teams to source and curate content.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field. They should have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience managing social media accounts with a focus on vertical video content, particularly on platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. A demonstrated portfolio showcasing viral or high-performing vertical video content is essential. Experience with international organizations, NGOs, or humanitarian agencies is highly desirable. Candidates should also have in-depth knowledge of TikTok's in-app content creation and supporting apps, along with previous video editing experience. Strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and a proactive approach are critical for success in this role.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding the dynamics of social media and content creation, which are crucial for the role of TikTok Platform Manager.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in managing social media accounts, specifically with a focus on vertical video content. Candidates should have a proven track record of creating engaging and high-performing content on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or humanitarian agencies is considered an asset, as it demonstrates an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the humanitarian sector.

Languages:
A strong command of written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of a second UN language such as French, Spanish, or Arabic would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a diverse audience and collaborate with international teams.

Additional Notes:
The position is classified as a consultant role with a duration of 11 months. It is primarily on-site for locally based candidates, although remote work may be considered for candidates not based locally. However, it is important to note that no relocation or allowance support will be provided.
