Job Overview:
The Community Feedback Mechanism Intern plays a crucial role in supporting the country program by actively engaging with communities to collect feedback and report any concerns that may arise. This position is integral to the implementation of Community Feedback Mechanism activities, which emphasize community engagement and accountability. The intern will be responsible for answering calls to the NRC hotline, recording complaints and feedback, and documenting the information received through the CFM Toll-free line to ensure swift action is taken. The role also involves monitoring and strengthening referral systems within the community, ensuring confidentiality in the collection and documentation of feedback. The intern will stay updated on NRC projects, policies, and procedures, particularly regarding complaints and feedback, and will assist in briefing staff and others on the NRC Nigeria CFM Accountability Mechanism. By working closely with community leaders, beneficiaries, and the CFM team, the intern will support routine CFM activities, community engagement meetings, and data collection efforts, thereby contributing to accountability and the strengthening of referral pathways.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines while assisting with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to the plan of action. They will promote and share ideas for improving the support function and advocate for the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees. Key responsibilities include collecting and documenting CFM data, informing communities and leaders about NRC's activities to ensure accountability, and maintaining confidentiality in feedback collection. The intern will answer NRC hotline calls, record complaints and feedback using prepared templates, and document and share feedback with the CFM Coordinator for prompt action. They will regularly update themselves on NRC projects and policies, assist in implementing CFM activities, establish and maintain relations with community stakeholders, and engage with the community to identify protection and accountability issues. Additionally, the intern will support routine CFM activities across all program locations and work closely with community leaders and beneficiaries under the supervision of the CFM Officer.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum qualification of a secondary school certificate. The intern should possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, a good understanding of their own leadership skills and profile, and knowledge of the community profile, local cultures, and traditional and religious structures. Fluency in English, Hausa, and any local languages within the community is essential, along with excellent written and oral communication skills. Evidence of significant involvement with the communities is considered an added advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes at least a secondary school certificate. This foundational education is necessary to ensure that the intern can effectively engage with community members and understand the responsibilities associated with the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience in facilitation for diverse groups of people and handling phone calls with dignity and respect. Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts is advantageous, as it equips the intern with the skills needed to navigate challenging situations and engage effectively with community members.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, along with proficiency in Hausa and any local languages relevant to the community. This linguistic capability is crucial for effective communication and engagement with community members, ensuring that feedback and concerns are accurately captured and addressed.
