Job Overview: The Programme Analyst position is a critical role within UN Women, specifically focusing on Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) programs. Reporting to the Programme Specialist for WEE, the Programme Analyst is responsible for the effective management of WEE programs by providing substantive inputs to design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, formulation, implementation, and evaluation. The role involves monitoring results achieved during program implementation, ensuring the appropriate application of systems and procedures, and developing enhancements as necessary. The Programme Analyst collaborates closely with various stakeholders, including the program and operations team, UN Women HQ staff, government officials, donors, and civil society, to ensure successful program implementation. The position also includes participation in training components and learning opportunities to develop management skills and knowledge in specific technical areas related to gender equality and women's economic empowerment.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Analyst will contribute technically to the development of program strategies in the WEE program, providing substantive inputs to the design and formulation of program/project proposals and initiatives. Key responsibilities include identifying areas for support and intervention, providing technical support to the implementation and management of joint programs, leading the implementation of program activities, coordinating calls for proposals, reviewing and monitoring partner reports, and training partners on Results Based Management. The role also involves monitoring progress of implementation activities and finances, drafting reports on program results, providing inputs to financial reports, and supporting resource mobilization strategies. Additionally, the Programme Analyst will coordinate inter-agency efforts on Women’s Economic Empowerment and develop advocacy and knowledge-building materials.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in agriculture, economics, social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project/programme management certification is considered an added advantage. Candidates should have at least 2 years of paid and progressively responsible work experience in development program/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building, with a focus on Women’s Economic Empowerment, particularly in agriculture and/or infrastructure. Experience in coordinating with government agencies and donors is also beneficial.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as agriculture, economics, social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, or international development. Alternatively, a first-level university degree along with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project/programme management certification would be an added advantage, indicating a formal recognition of the candidate's skills in managing projects effectively.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of paid and progressively responsible work experience in areas such as development program/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building. Experience specifically related to Women’s Economic Empowerment, particularly in sectors like agriculture and infrastructure, is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should have experience in coordinating and liaising with government agencies and/or donors, which is crucial for the successful execution of the role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, fluency in Finnish or Swedish is required, and knowledge of any other UN language is considered an asset.
