Job Overview: The position of Asistente de Programas at WFP involves providing technical support in managing information related to programmatic actions concerning emergency projects, livelihoods, school feeding, nutrition, social protection, and other initiatives. The role is crucial for ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of WFP interventions. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Senior Programme Associate and is expected to perform tasks with minimal supervision, demonstrating organized and precise work habits. The Asistente de Programas will be responsible for supporting the planning and monitoring of technical and financial activities of cooperating partners, ensuring alignment with WFP policies and guidelines. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity of information systems and facilitating effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Asistente de Programas will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: supporting the planning and monitoring of technical and financial activities of cooperating partners; processing, updating, and ensuring the integrity of information in institutional systems; following up on beneficiary requests using designated tools; detecting discrepancies in data and communicating them for correction; collecting data, conducting basic analyses, and preparing inputs for technical, financial, and operational reports; making budget projections and calculations for monthly and quarterly implementation plans; managing resource needs and controlling delivery timelines; supporting the creation and improvement of tools for project planning and monitoring; reviewing and correcting standard documents to ensure quality; serving as a point of contact for internal and external inquiries; coordinating with internal and external counterparts to support collaboration and effective follow-up of activities; and executing additional tasks as requested by the supervisor in line with the job's purpose.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed secondary education, with a desirable professional degree in administrative, economic, accounting, financial, engineering, or related fields. A minimum of four years of experience in managing project/program information is required. Experience in humanitarian assistance projects or development work is preferred, along with familiarity with database management and information systems. Experience in field operations, particularly in complex contexts, humanitarian assistance, or emergency situations, is highly valued. Knowledge of the intervention area of WFP in Riohacha (La Guajira, Cesar, Atlántico, and Magdalena) is an asset. Proficiency in computer use and office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is necessary, as well as experience with web-based systems and corporate platforms.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes the completion of secondary education as a minimum. A professional degree in relevant fields such as administration, economics, accounting, finance, engineering, or other areas related to the job functions is desirable. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of program management and the technical aspects of the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of four years of relevant experience in managing information related to projects or programs.
