Job Overview:
The HR Intern position is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in human resources within a dynamic international organization. The intern will work closely with the APD HR team, under the supervision of the Associate Administrative and HR Officer and the guidance of the Head of Division. The role involves assisting in the re-design and re-organization of the HR filing system, which includes classifying personnel files and documents, managing both hard-copy and soft-copy records, and ensuring that all files are organized efficiently. Additionally, the intern will provide administrative support to the HR team, which includes assisting in recruitment processes, drafting correspondence, managing staff queries, and contributing to various HR reports and newsletters. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn about HR practices in a global context and to develop skills that are essential for a career in human resources.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The HR Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: 1) Re-designing and reorganizing the HR filing system by classifying personnel files/documents based on a predetermined system, creating a File Page Index, and ensuring that both hard-copy and soft-copy records are organized according to the new system. The intern will also identify incomplete files and collaborate with team members to retrieve missing documents. 2) Providing additional administrative support to the HR team, which includes assisting in recruitment and onboarding processes, drafting emails and other correspondence, managing staff queries, compiling information for reports and strategic documents, and helping to organize meetings and workshops. The intern will also assist in taking meeting minutes and updating content for the ICJ APD intranet pages. 3) Performing any other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor, ensuring that all activities are conducted in a timely and efficient manner.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (bachelor's level or equivalent), in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent), or in a PhD program; or have graduated within the past two years. While not mandatory, an educational background in business administration, Information Science, Records Management, Library & Documentation, or Office Management and Secretarial Studies will be considered an asset. The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes enrollment in or completion of a degree program at the undergraduate or graduate level. Candidates should ideally have a focus in fields related to business administration, human resources, information science, or similar disciplines. This educational foundation will provide the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively contribute to the HR team's functions and responsibilities.

Experience:
The position is suitable for candidates who are either currently enrolled in a degree program or have recently graduated. Therefore, the level of experience required is minimal, as the internship is intended to provide practical experience and training for individuals who are beginning their careers in human resources or related fields. Previous internships or volunteer experiences in administrative or HR roles may be beneficial but are not mandatory.

Languages:
An excellent command of at least one of the Court's official and working languages, which are English and French, is required for this position. Knowledge of the other language will be considered an added asset, as it will enhance communication within the diverse international environment of the United Nations. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in both written and spoken forms of the required language(s).

Interns in this position are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, meaning that they will not receive a salary or stipend during their internship. All costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions. Additionally, interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the Netherlands may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization before starting the internship.
