Job Overview:
The Sustainability Project Officer will join CERN's Sustainability Office to support the delivery of the Organisation's 2027 Sustainability Report project. This role involves working under the supervision of the Sustainability Strategy Implementation and Reporting Officer, contributing to the setup, drafting, and publication elements of the project. The position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sustainability strategy implementation and reporting within an international and multidisciplinary environment. The officer will be responsible for supporting the development and documentation of CERN's social and governance initiatives, collecting and analyzing sustainability data, and contributing to the preparation of reports for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and compliance with global standards. The role also includes developing communication materials to raise awareness of sustainability initiatives and supporting training and engagement activities to foster a culture of sustainability at CERN.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Sustainability Project Officer include: supporting the development and documentation of CERN's social and governance initiatives; collecting and analyzing sustainability data; supporting project implementation and coordination efforts; monitoring progress and documenting results; contributing to the preparation of reports for internal and external stakeholders; ensuring transparency and compliance with global standards; developing communication materials to raise awareness of sustainability initiatives and targets; supporting training and engagement activities to foster a culture of sustainability at CERN; and performing any other required project tasks as identified by the Sustainability Strategy Implementation and Reporting Officer.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and possess a professional background in Sustainability Management or a related field. They should have either a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience. Additionally, candidates must not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or PhD in Sustainability Management or a related field. The degree should be complemented by relevant professional experience in sustainability projects and the application of international social and governance standards and frameworks.

Experience:
Candidates should have experience working with sustainability projects and the application of international social and governance standards and frameworks, such as GRI, CSRD, and UN Global Compact. They should also have experience in implementing sustainability strategies, particularly regarding social and governance actions, with a focus on project delivery, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. Experience in sustainability reporting and the production of professional, accurate, and engaging reports and communications in English is essential, along with the ability to distill complex social and governance topics into clear, actionable insights.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, with strong verbal and written communication skills required. Candidates should also have a commitment to learn French, which is considered a good to have language for this role.
