Job Overview: As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the solution as a whole, adjusting the service level based on user feedback, ensuring coordination among various stakeholders (humanitarian actors, local teams, authorities), and managing the deployment phase along with continuous adjustments. Your role is crucial in navigating the complexities of the humanitarian landscape in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly in the eastern regions where instability and conflict have persisted for over two decades. You will be expected to manage logistics effectively, ensuring that humanitarian partners can operate efficiently despite the challenging conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities: 1) Management: Oversee project management and ensure effective team leadership. 2) Strategy and Steering: Develop and implement strategies for project execution. 3) Operational Implementation: Plan and coordinate shared convoys for humanitarian partners while respecting priorities and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security constraints. Supervise warehouse management, including space allocation, stock tracking, periodic inventories, and adherence to procedures. Monitor vehicle fleet and plan movements, ensuring transport operations are executed smoothly. Update and utilize project tracking tools (transport planning, OFU, prioritization tables, performance indicators). Collect and analyze transport data (volumes, delays, partner satisfaction rates) and storage data (occupancy, rotation). Ensure compliance with transport and warehouse safety SOPs by the team (driver briefings, radio monitoring, incident reporting). Coordinate relationships with user partners, follow up on service requests, and ensure accountability through feedback mechanisms. 4) Emergency Preparedness and Response: Prepare for and respond to emergencies as needed.
Required Qualifications: You must possess a higher education degree in logistics, transport, or a relevant field. A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in the transport sector is required, with project management experience highly recommended. You should have at least 1 year of experience in team management. The ability to work under pressure in a volatile security context is essential, along with excellent communication skills. Proficiency in French is mandatory, and English is highly desired.
Educational Background: A higher education degree in logistics, transport, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of logistics management and operational planning in humanitarian contexts.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of professional experience in the transport sector, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience in project management. Additionally, at least 1 year of experience in team management is necessary to ensure effective leadership and coordination within the project team.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication. Proficiency in English is highly desirable and will be considered an asset, especially in a multicultural work environment where collaboration with international partners is common.
Additional Notes: The position is an International Contract for 12 months starting from May 2026, based in Goma or Beni. The international contract provides social coverage tailored to individual needs, including unemployment insurance for EU nationals, retirement insurance, and health coverage, including repatriation. The salary starts at 2750 € gross per month, with a per diem of 572 € net per month paid in local currency on the ground, and a hardship allowance of 500 € net per month. Employees are entitled to 25 days of paid leave per year and 5 days of rest and recuperation every 8 weeks. The position is unaccompanied, and collective accommodation is provided by HI. If you are a resident of the country, a local package will be offered.
