Job Overview:
The Global Finance Director (GFD) serves as the senior financial leader within Relief International, tasked with safeguarding the financial integrity of the organization, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and enabling impactful mission delivery through robust financial strategy and stewardship. As a vital member of the Senior Leadership Team, the GFD collaborates closely with the Chief Executive, Global Management Group, and Board, including the Finance Committee and Audit & Risk Committee, to guide the organization towards long-term sustainability, manage financial risks, and ensure the ethical and transparent use of funds. The GFD will lead the design and implementation of financial and business development policies, overseeing financial management from planning and control to regulatory compliance across headquarters and multi-country operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Global Finance Director include shaping and executing a comprehensive global financial strategy, advising the CEO and Senior Leadership Team on performance, sustainability, and long-term planning. The GFD will lead multiyear budgeting processes, scenario planning, and the development of reserves policies while ensuring cost efficiency and value for money strategies. The role involves overseeing global financial operations, including accounting, treasury, reporting, systems integration, and policy development, to guarantee accuracy and efficiency in financial management. The GFD will ensure compliance with donor regulations, manage financial risks, maintain a financial risk register, and provide governance support through Board reporting and strategic engagement with auditors and financial advisors. Additionally, the GFD will build and lead a high-performing global finance team, fostering financial literacy and a culture of accountability and data-driven decision-making.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, along with a recognized professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or CIPFA. A minimum of 10 years of senior financial leadership experience is required, ideally within international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) or international development sectors that involve multi-country operations and diverse funding portfolios. Strong management accounting experience, including decision support analyses, scenario planning, forecasting, and budgeting, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate success in leading finance functions with cross-border complexity and have experience in implementing finance/ERP systems and driving process improvements. In-depth knowledge of donor compliance frameworks and audit processes is necessary, along with strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to diverse audiences.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should hold a recognized professional accounting qualification, which is preferred for this role. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of financial management in an international non-profit context.

Experience:
The position requires at least 10 years of senior financial leadership experience, ideally gained in international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) or within the international development sector. Candidates should have experience managing multi-country operations and diverse funding portfolios, demonstrating a strong track record in financial management and strategic planning.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and spoken communication skills necessary for effective interaction with senior stakeholders, including the Senior Leadership Team, Board, and major funders. While English proficiency is essential, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if relevant to the countries in which Relief International operates.
