Job Overview:
The Communications Analyst position at UN Women is crucial for enhancing the organization's visibility and engagement with various stakeholders, including partners, media, and the public. Reporting to the Head of Office, the Communications Analyst will assist in the planning and implementation of communication and advocacy strategies that align with UN Women's mission. This role requires close collaboration with various teams within the country office, including Programme, Operations, and technical teams, as well as external stakeholders such as government officials, media representatives, and civil society organizations. The Communications Analyst will be responsible for conducting communication needs assessments, analyzing media trends, and developing communication strategies that incorporate a gender perspective. The position also involves managing media relations, developing advocacy materials, and maintaining the organization's online presence, including social media accounts and websites. The goal is to ensure that UN Women's activities and initiatives are effectively communicated and that the organization maintains a strong presence in the public discourse surrounding gender equality and women's empowerment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Analyst will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: planning and designing communication and outreach strategies; conducting communication needs assessments for the country office; analyzing media requirements and synthesizing proposals for communication strategies; integrating advocacy and outreach strategies into project proposals; monitoring and analyzing print and social media; coordinating corporate and local campaigns; developing and disseminating advocacy materials; managing media relations and maintaining a database of relevant press contacts; organizing press conferences and roundtable discussions; building partnerships with donors and civil society organizations; managing the content and maintenance of the country office's website; facilitating knowledge sharing and training on communication and advocacy; and ensuring timely dissemination of materials and updates on UN Women's activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Communications Analyst position must possess a Master's degree (or equivalent) in communications, public relations, journalism, or a relevant field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The role requires at least two years of professional work experience at the national or international level in public relations, communications, or advocacy. Experience in media relations and the use of social media is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, presentation, networking, and advocacy skills, as well as a good understanding of production, graphic design, and photography standards.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Communications Analyst position includes a Master's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. In cases where candidates hold a first-level university degree, they must also have two additional years of relevant experience to qualify for the position. This educational requirement ensures that candidates have a solid foundation in communication principles and practices, which are essential for effectively carrying out the responsibilities of the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional work experience in public relations, communications, or advocacy at either the national or international level.
