Job Overview:

The ideal candidate will have experience in liaising with various institutions and conducting formal correspondence. They will be expected to communicate effectively with international and foreign diplomatic missions as well as civil society representatives. The role requires proficiency in both English and Bulgarian, and the ability to utilize digital tools such as MS Office, Canva, and social media platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn for professional purposes. The candidate must also be capable of working collaboratively within a team environment and managing both internal and external communications effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks including supporting the drafting, design, dissemination, and submission of reports and newsletters, as well as preparing any other public information materials as required. They will facilitate and accompany visits and interactions with foreign delegations and diplomatic missions in Bulgaria, partner NGOs, donors, and the media to UNHCR’s and partner locations such as community centers and reception centers. The intern will assist in drafting and translating routine correspondence and texts, ensuring that finalized and cleared official correspondence is disseminated to the appropriate addressees. They will also ensure that public information materials, including fact sheets, information brochures, and briefing materials, are readily available. Additionally, the intern will support the organization of events, such as World Refugee Day, and liaise with partners, refugees, and local communities to implement these events. They will assist in compiling weekly, monthly, and annual/quarterly thematic reports and situation reports, and perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for this internship, candidates must meet specific criteria: they should either be recent graduates who have completed their studies within two years of applying or current students enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program at a university or higher education institution accredited by IAU/UNESCO. Furthermore, candidates must have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant to the work of UNHCR. It is also important that candidates have not exhausted the maximum cumulative internship period with UNHCR, which is limited to 8 months for full-time internships and 12 months for part-time internships.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field that is relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR.
