Job Overview: The NCD Programme Coordinator will play a pivotal role in establishing a strong WHO presence in Fiji to implement the WHO Country Cooperation Strategies (CSS). This position is crucial for aligning health development priorities with emergency and resilience programs in the South Pacific Region. The primary goal of the NCD programme is to reduce preventable morbidity, avoidable disability, and premature mortality from non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and managing NCD-related projects and programs, ensuring effective planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and timely reporting that aligns with WHO’s global and regional strategies. The role requires a proactive approach to support national governments in developing and implementing evidence-based policies and strategies for NCD prevention and control, focusing on risk factor reduction and health promotion.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will perform a variety of duties including: establishing and maintaining monitoring and evaluation systems for NCD programmes; determining necessary data information elements for evaluation; adopting standardized methods for capturing evidence-based NCD interventions; assessing the impact and effectiveness of NCD programmes; building national and regional capacities for monitoring and evaluation; conducting situation analyses and preparing technical reports; partnering with donors and organizations for effective monitoring and evaluation; engaging with implementing partners and UN M&E coordination structures; and managing the overall results-based management of the PNH/DPS for effective implementation of technical and financial execution of grant-based projects.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, health informatics, public administration, or international development. An advanced degree in public health is desirable. WHO considers only higher educational qualifications from accredited institutions recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Additional Notes: The position offers a competitive remuneration package starting at USD 70,212 annually, subject to mandatory deductions.
