Job Overview:
The National Officer position is integral to the ILO's PROSPECTS initiative, which aims to improve the living standards and inclusion of forcibly displaced persons (FDPs) and host communities (HCs) in Kenya. The role involves developing and implementing communication strategies that effectively convey the program's key messages to various stakeholders, including beneficiaries, government entities, and international partners. The incumbent will work closely with the Chief Technical Advisor and the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director, ensuring that communication efforts align with the strategic priorities of the ILO. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying communication needs and delivering high-quality multimedia content that resonates with target audiences. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility of the PROSPECTS program and its objectives, contributing to the overall mission of improving socio-economic opportunities for refugees and host communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: identifying communication and information needs for the PROSPECTS initiative; providing technical advice on communication strategies; developing and delivering multimedia communication products; ensuring the dissemination of key messages and information to various audiences; researching, writing, editing, and translating communication materials; coordinating the production of audio-visual materials; undertaking field visits to document program progress; maintaining a library of communication resources; and collaborating with other UN partners to ensure alignment in communication efforts. The role also involves managing relationships with stakeholders and ensuring compliance with ILO branding and visibility standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first-level university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) in Communications, Journalism, or a related field. Additionally, they should have at least two years of professional experience in communication and advocacy within the international development context. Experience in communications within government, corporate, non-governmental organizations, or the United Nations is highly desirable. Proficiency in web-based media and social media networks is essential, along with demonstrated practical experience in multimedia production, including video filming and editing, and graphic design using industry-standard software.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a first-level university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Communications, Journalism, or a related discipline. This educational background is crucial for understanding the principles and practices of effective communication and advocacy in the context of international development.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in communication and advocacy, particularly within the international development sector. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in communications roles in various settings, including government, NGOs, or international organizations. Experience in multimedia production and the ability to manage communication projects effectively are also essential.

Languages:
A strong command of the English language is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those relevant to the local context, would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
