Job Overview:
The Senior Technical Officer for Nutrition will play a pivotal role in the EpiC MNCH+N project, which aims to enhance nutrition, maternal, newborn, and child health, as well as immunization outcomes in Mozambique, specifically in the provinces of Zambezia and Nampula. This position requires a strong technical leader who will oversee the implementation of nutrition interventions across health facilities and community platforms. The officer will be responsible for ensuring that nutrition services are delivered in accordance with national guidelines and global best practices, while also integrating these services with maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) and immunization services. The role involves providing technical guidance to project teams, conducting performance analysis, and proposing evidence-based adaptations to improve service delivery. The Senior Technical Officer will also be tasked with developing and monitoring technical work plans and contributing to the preparation of reports required by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Affairs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Technical Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities including: providing technical leadership for the implementation of nutrition interventions; ensuring adherence to national guidelines and protocols; supporting the scale-up of high-impact nutrition practices; conducting routine analyses of program performance; proposing technical adaptations based on data; maintaining relevant protocols and training materials; collaborating with project teams to ensure sound implementation; developing technical work plans; and contributing to the preparation of reports. Additionally, the officer will oversee training initiatives, support local government capacity building, and ensure quality in care delivery at both health facilities and community levels.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in Public Health, Nutrition, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security and Nutrition, or related fields. Preferred qualifications include backgrounds as a public health nutritionist, nutrition specialist, or a medical professional with strong nutrition programming experience. A minimum of 6 years of experience in public health nutrition is required, along with proven leadership skills in supervising staff and evaluating performance. Experience in designing and implementing training for clinical nutrition services is essential, as is the ability to mentor teams effectively. Knowledge of nutrition interventions at both health facility and community levels is crucial, and familiarity with the Zambezia and Nampula regions is preferred. Strong communication skills in both Portuguese and English are mandatory, along with excellent organizational and analytical abilities.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Public Health, Nutrition, or Food Security and Nutrition. Candidates with advanced training in nutrition or related disciplines, particularly those with a focus on maternal and child health, will be viewed favorably. Professional qualifications that demonstrate a strong foundation in public health and nutrition are essential for success in this role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in public health nutrition and public health, with a specific focus on nutrition programming. Candidates should have a proven track record of leadership in supervising and evaluating staff performance, as well as experience in designing and implementing training programs. Familiarity with the Nutrition PIN program and experience working in the provinces of Zambezia and Nampula are highly desirable. The ability to build effective relationships with government personnel and community stakeholders is also critical.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is required, along with strong oral presentation skills in English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but the primary requirement is fluency in Portuguese to effectively communicate with local stakeholders and communities.
