Job Overview: The Programme Analyst, Maternal Health plays a crucial role in the effective management of UNFPA's activities related to maternal health, cervical cancer, and broader sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). This position involves analyzing maternal health trends and their sociocultural contexts, providing substantive inputs for national maternal health program formulation, management, and evaluation. The Programme Analyst is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring UNFPA's maternal health program, ensuring that it aligns with government priorities and incorporates lessons learned and best practices. The role also includes integrating climate action considerations into existing maternal health and SRHR programming, thereby contributing to a holistic approach to health and development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Analyst will collaborate with government counterparts, NGOs, and other partners to contribute substantively to the formulation and design of the maternal health and cervical cancer components of the country program. Responsibilities include ensuring the quality of the program by incorporating lessons learned and establishing appropriate monitoring mechanisms. The analyst will analyze and interpret data on maternal health and cervical cancer, keeping abreast of new national and international policy developments. They will coordinate program implementation, support proposal development, and engage with donors to facilitate timely delivery of results. Additionally, the analyst will identify training needs for implementing partners, document lessons learned, and share best practices to inform future programming. Other programmatic tasks may be assigned by the Chief of Health as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in public health or a related social science field. They should have at least two years of professional experience in development and population activities, particularly in maternal health and/or SRHR. A minimum of one year of experience working on climate change and its linkages with SRHR and cervical cancer prevention at the national level is required. Candidates should also have experience in compiling and analyzing program data for reporting purposes, as well as conducting independent research on non-communicable diseases. Familiarity with UN operations and a good understanding of maternal health issues in Bangladesh are essential. Strong communication skills are necessary to present UNFPA's work effectively to both local and international audiences.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in public health or a related social science field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary knowledge and skills to address complex issues related to maternal health and SRHR, as well as to engage in policy formulation and program management.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in development and population activities, with a strong preference for experience in maternal health and SRHR. Candidates should have at least one year of experience working on climate change issues and their implications for SRHR and cervical cancer prevention.
