Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Section of the Programme Support and Management Service (PSMS) at the OHCHR. The intern will be under the supervision of the ERP Team and will have the opportunity to collaborate with internal clients and counterparts across both headquarters and field operations. This role is designed to provide exposure to digital transformation initiatives and enterprise systems that are crucial for the effective delivery of the OHCHR’s human rights mandate on a global scale. The intern will play a vital role in supporting the ERP Section by contributing to various administrative coordination tasks, data management, and stakeholder communication related to ERP-enabled business processes. This internship offers a practical learning experience at the intersection of digital transformation, enterprise resource planning, and operational support for human rights programs, allowing the intern to gain valuable insights into the workings of a major international organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Administrative and Operational Support: Assisting with day-to-day administrative and operational activities related to ERP initiatives, responding to routine requests for information and assistance from internal stakeholders, and maintaining organized filing and tracking systems while supporting document archiving in accordance with established procedures.
Document and Process Support: Reviewing and verifying documentation for accuracy and completeness to support ERP role-mapping and access management processes, ensuring proper classification, filing, and storage of documents and records.
Communication and Coordination: Drafting routine correspondence and liaising with other sections to gather and consolidate information related to ERP and operational processes, taking minutes during meetings, summarizing key decisions and actions, and ensuring timely circulation of information.
Data Management, Reporting, and Knowledge Sharing: Supporting the maintenance of dashboards to ensure data accuracy and timeliness, compiling information for periodic reports, and drafting PowerPoint presentations to aid management decision-making. Additionally, updating and maintaining content on the ERPMS intranet page to facilitate knowledge sharing and transparency.
Other Responsibilities: Performing other related duties as required by the ERP Section in support of ongoing digital transformation initiatives.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). While no prior professional work experience is required, familiarity with data management, process analysis, administrative support, or information systems is considered an asset. Applicants should demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and effective written and verbal communication abilities. The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment is essential. Desirable technical competencies include proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as exposure to data entry, basic reporting tools, and introductory use of AI-enabled applications to support administrative or analytical tasks.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes either being currently enrolled in or having completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or being enrolled in or having completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Experience: The level of experience needed for this internship is minimal, as no prior professional work experience is required. However, familiarity with data management, process analysis, administrative support, or information systems is considered advantageous. Languages: The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. For this specific position, fluency in English is required.
