Job Overview: The Project Associate position is integral to the implementation of the Climate, Environment, Energy, and Disaster Risk Reduction Programme of UNDP in Tunisia. This role involves providing technical support for project implementation and monitoring, ensuring that project objectives are met efficiently and effectively. The Project Associate will assist in the development of terms of reference for expert mobilization, data collection for project reporting, and the creation of knowledge management tools related to the programme's intervention areas. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including public and private partners, to foster responsible resource use and promote inclusive economic growth. The Project Associate will also play a key role in administrative and budgetary support, ensuring compliance with UNDP and donor procedures, and contributing to the overall success of the project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Associate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
Providing technical support for project implementation and monitoring, focusing on the following tasks: - Assisting the project manager in developing terms of reference for mobilizing expertise and reviewing their technical deliverables. - Supporting the project manager in data collection processes to ensure accurate project reporting. - Contributing to the development of knowledge management tools related to the programme's intervention areas. - Assisting in the design and identification of new initiatives aligned with the programme's priorities, including mobilizing partnerships and developing substantive documents.
Providing administrative and budgetary support to the project management unit, focusing on: - Assisting in programmatic, administrative, and budgetary follow-up in accordance with performance frameworks and UNDP procedures. - Supporting the development and implementation of annual project planning documents, including work plans, monitoring and evaluation plans, communication plans, procurement plans, and quarterly disbursement plans. - Assisting in achieving expected results in line with performance frameworks, including quality assurance actions, internal evaluations, and monitoring of performance indicators. - Supporting project reporting processes, including periodic and annual technical and financial reporting to UNDP and donors. - Engaging in procurement processes according to UNDP and donor management principles and procedures. - Organizing logistics for workshops and missions related to the project. - Ensuring proper documentation and archiving of project materials, including compliance with audit and evaluation procedures. - Performing any other tasks necessary for project implementation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a secondary school diploma. A university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) in management, economics, social sciences, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. A strong command of computer tools (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and research tools) is required. Additional skills in database management are considered an asset. Experience in project management within national or international organizations, particularly within the UN system or bilateral/multilateral development agencies, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong project management and monitoring skills, teamwork capabilities, conflict resolution skills, creativity, autonomy, and the ability to work under pressure. Excellent negotiation skills and critical thinking abilities are also essential.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a secondary school diploma. A university degree in management, economics, social sciences, or a relevant field is advantageous but not a strict requirement. Candidates with relevant work experience may be considered even if they do not hold a university degree.
Experience: Candidates are required to have a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience with a secondary school diploma or 4 years of experience with a university degree in project management or related fields. This experience should include roles that demonstrate the ability to manage and monitor projects effectively, preferably in contexts related to climate, environment, energy, or disaster risk reduction.
Languages: Proficiency in Arabic and French is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of English is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration within the international context of UNDP's operations.
