The intern will be an integral part of the BIOFIN global team, contributing to various technical, management, and communication activities. The role involves supporting the development of transformative case studies, assisting in the creation of communication materials, and engaging in social media management. The intern will also collaborate with the BES-Net team, focusing on synergies between biodiversity finance and ecosystem services initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a global network, contributing to impactful projects that address environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting research efforts by collecting, analyzing, and presenting data related to BIOFIN impact, including the development of 12 transformative case studies for publication.
Collaborating with the Communications and Knowledge Management (KM) Team to design and implement the Finance Solutions Catalogue.
Assisting in the planning and execution of campaigns throughout the year, including the creation of communication templates for BIOFIN countries.
Organizing events, webinars, and meetings, and maintaining documentation of these activities.
Enhancing BIOFIN's social media presence by managing media accounts and creating engaging content.
Developing knowledge products such as blogs and articles to disseminate information about biodiversity finance.
Monitoring and synthesizing developments in the field, maintaining a database of news coverage related to BIOFIN.
Attending meetings and taking minutes as required, and participating in regular intern meetings to report progress to supervisors.
Supporting the BES-Net team by developing stories from countries where both initiatives operate, compiling content for newsletters, and identifying collaboration opportunities between BIOFIN and BES-Net.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet specific educational requirements to be eligible for the internship. Applicants should be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program in fields such as Finance, Economics, Communications, Social Studies, Environmental Studies, or related disciplines. Alternatively, candidates may be in their final year of a bachelor's degree program in similar fields or have recently graduated. Additionally, applicants enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program may also apply. Previous work experience in a related field, understanding of social media platforms, and experience with content creation tools are considered assets. Knowledge of biodiversity, conservation, and environmental issues is also beneficial.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in a postgraduate degree program or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program in relevant fields such as Finance, Economics, Communications, Social Studies, Environmental Studies, or related areas. Recent graduates who meet these criteria and can start the internship within one year of graduation are also eligible. Experience: The internship requires candidates to have some level of experience, preferably in a national or international organization. Additional Notes: This internship is unpaid, but UNDP may provide a stipend in accordance with its internship policy. Interns are responsible for securing their own medical insurance and must provide self-certification of good health before starting the internship.
