Job Overview:
The Fundraising Communications Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the media relationship efforts and content development for the UNHCR's fundraising initiatives in Hong Kong. The assistant will be responsible for creating localized stories based on HQ's media resources, such as press releases and web stories, to engage local media effectively. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Fundraising Communications Assistant include:
  • Collecting press cuttings of articles related to refugee issues and the work of the UNHCR.
  • Compiling and maintaining a mailing list for marketing materials, press releases, and information bulletins, ensuring timely dispatch to media and interested parties.
  • Classifying and maintaining adequate stock of fundraising and marketing materials, promoting the sale of marketing products where appropriate.
  • Supporting the development of content for both online and offline fundraising and marketing materials.
  • Providing clerical and onsite assistance for events such as poster campaigns, exhibitions, and public awareness events.
  • Offering translation assistance between English and Traditional Chinese.
  • Responding to routine inquiries from various sources, including vendors, media, public, NGOs, and government officials.
  • Maintaining up-to-date fundraising communication files.
  • Performing other duties as required by supervisors, including bi-weekly reporting on work progress and project evaluations.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Fundraising Communications Assistant position include:
  • Completion of Secondary Education; a degree in Business Administration, Journalism, Social Science, or a related field is desirable.
  • A minimum of 1 year of working experience for candidates with a high school diploma, or no experience required for those with a bachelor's degree.
