Job Overview:
The marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Digital Marketing and Communication Specialist position at UNEP is designed to strengthen the global visibility, engagement, and impact of UNEP’s digital platforms and priority initiatives. The role involves planning, implementing, and monitoring paid digital marketing initiatives, including paid campaigns, and coordinating communication activities for designated initiatives. The consultant will support UNEP's digital presence and impact through effective audience engagement and data-driven performance optimization across digital platforms. The position requires collaboration with internal UNEP teams and external service providers to ensure the effective delivery of digital marketing and communication activities. The consultant will work under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Digital Strategy Section, contributing to the enhancement of UNEP’s communication objectives and the reach of its work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will perform a variety of functions, including but not limited to: planning, executing, and managing paid digital marketing strategies to support UNEP’s communication objectives; enhancing the reach and impact of UNEP’s work through data-driven approaches; tracking and analyzing the performance of digital marketing and communication activities; preparing analytical reports; providing recommendations to strengthen future initiatives; coordinating with internal UNEP teams and external service providers; and ensuring the effective delivery of communication activities for assigned programmes or initiatives. This includes liaising with internal teams and external partners to ensure strategic alignment, consistency of messaging, and effective delivery across digital and multimedia platforms. The role also involves managing communication activities for specific initiatives such as Young Champions of the Earth.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a master's degree in communications, marketing, or a related field. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the master's degree. At least one year of relevant professional experience in digital marketing and digital communications is required, including management of paid digital campaigns and multi-channel communication initiatives. Proven experience in coordinating communication activities for programmes or initiatives, working with multiple stakeholders, is essential. Experience running creative workshops and administering newsletters using MDirector or similar software is also required. Previous experience with the United Nations or an international organization is desirable, providing candidates with a competitive edge.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a master's degree in communications, marketing, or a related field. In cases where a candidate holds a bachelor's degree, they must also have two additional years of relevant experience to be considered equivalent to the master's degree. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of digital marketing and communication strategies within the context of UNEP's mission and objectives.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant professional experience in digital marketing and digital communications.
