Job Overview:
The Principal Delivery Manager is a pivotal role within the Digital Workplace division of the EBRD, responsible for defining and implementing strategies that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering teams. This position focuses on maximizing value delivery to the business by leading cross-functional delivery teams and fostering a culture of agile practices. The Principal will innovate and create a product and delivery mindset, ensuring high engagement levels and effective adoption of business changes among internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners. The role requires a strategic approach to simplifying processes, enabling teams to prioritize high-value work, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and reflection.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Principal Delivery Manager will be accountable for several key responsibilities, including:
  • Simplifying processes to enhance efficiency and eliminate bottlenecks, ensuring teams can focus on high-impact work.
  • Leading and mentoring delivery teams, promoting informed decision-making and alignment with business objectives.
  • Fostering a culture of psychological safety and open communication within teams, encouraging diverse perspectives and feedback.
  • Championing collaboration across IT functions and business teams, breaking down silos to optimize workflows.
  • Embedding engineering excellence by advocating for best practices in technical delivery, including clean code and DevOps methodologies.
  • Leading the agile community of practice, continuously improving agile methodologies and practices across the organization.
  • Managing cost-effectiveness in delivery, ensuring resources are utilized efficiently to maximize ROI.
  • Ensuring quality assurance standards are met and promoting continuous improvement in quality metrics.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a proven track record in delivering complex initiatives across Digital Workplace capabilities, including technologies such as Microsoft 365 and Robotic Process Automation. An expert understanding of Agile methodologies is essential, along with significant experience in leading cross-functional technology delivery programs. Strong leadership and communication skills are required to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and translate complex project information to diverse audiences. Experience in risk management, stakeholder management, and expectation setting is crucial, as is a deep understanding of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

Educational Background:
A relevant degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in Agile methodologies (such as Scrum Master or Agile Coach) and project management (such as PMP or PRINCE2) are highly desirable. Continuous professional development in areas related to digital transformation and technology delivery is also beneficial.

Experience:
Candidates should have extensive experience in managing complex, cross-functional delivery programs, ideally within large enterprise environments. A strong background in Agile delivery practices, with a proven ability to navigate complexity and manage multiple teams, is essential. Experience in scaling Agile practices across organizations and integrating them with traditional project management frameworks is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the EBRD's member countries, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
This position is a fixed-term contract for a duration of three years. The role is based in London, and candidates should be prepared to work in the office for at least 50% of their working time.
