In Ecuador, the Office of the Resident Coordinator coordinates the activities of 22 different UN agencies, funds, and programs, focusing on improving the lives of the Ecuadorian people through collaborative efforts.

Job Overview:
The internship in the Office of the Resident Coordinator (RCO) in Ecuador is designed to provide practical experience in the field of communication and promotion within the UN system. The internship will last for a duration of 6 months, depending on the needs of the Office. Interns will work under the supervision of the Communication and Promotion Officer, engaging in a variety of tasks that support the implementation of communication policies across various social media platforms. The role is ideal for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic international environment, contributing to the UN's mission of fostering effective communication and outreach.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing support in the implementation of communication policies of the DCO/DGC on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Flickr, and TikTok; assisting in the generation of content and publications for these platforms; responding to messages, comments, and shares; generating and analyzing analytics for each social network and monitoring digital trends within the country; organizing events, workshops, and training sessions, both virtual and in-person; proposing improvements to the digital strategy; coordinating with influencers and creating content in collaboration with them; maintaining and updating a database for sending emails and invitations; implementing inter-agency communication products like joint campaigns and newsletters; monitoring digital media for relevant issues; adjusting fan pages as needed; and contributing to the generation of quarterly reports on social media performance.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must be students in their final year of a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program or have completed such programs. Additionally, applicants should possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, and have the ability to draft news articles and social media posts.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being enrolled in or having completed a bachelor's degree or higher in a field relevant to communication, social media, public relations, or a related area. Candidates should be in their final year of study or have already completed their degree, providing proof of their academic status with their application.
