Job Overview:
The Driver position at UNHCR involves not only driving official vehicles but also maintaining and ensuring the operational readiness of these vehicles. The incumbent will be responsible for transporting authorized personnel, delivering documents, and performing minor maintenance and repairs on the assigned vehicles. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Drive UNHCR vehicles for the transport of authorized passengers and deliver or collect documents and other items as required.
  • Meet official personnel at airports or other locations and facilitate immigration and customs formalities.
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles, including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, and ensuring vehicles are roadworthy and meet security standards.
  • Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs as necessary, ensuring vehicles are kept clean.
  • Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, and greasing.
  • Follow instructions and security guidance provided by the supervisor and security focal point.
  • Ensure valid documentation for passengers, items, or cargo in the vehicle.
  • Support the identification and management of risks and seek to seize opportunities impacting objectives in the area of responsibility.
  • Raise risks, issues, and concerns to a supervisor or relevant functional colleagues. 1

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • A valid driving license (A/B) is essential.
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations is mandatory.
  • Basic vehicle mechanical skills are required for performing minor maintenance and checks.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience is necessary, with completion of primary education or a high school diploma being the minimum educational requirement.
  • Previous driving experience with armored vehicles is considered a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with local road networks, routes, and prevailing security conditions is required.
  • Strong commitment to road safety and adherence to security procedures is mandatory.
  • Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment under pressure is essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes completion of primary education or a high school diploma.
