Job Overview:
The UNHCR Hired Lawyer (UHL) position is a critical role within the UNHCR's Legal Services Project in Iran, aimed at providing essential legal assistance to Afghan and Iraqi refugees and asylum seekers. The UHL will be responsible for offering legal advice and representation to beneficiaries, ensuring their rights are upheld in various legal contexts. This role involves working closely with the Dispute Settlement Committees (DSCs) and engaging with the local refugee community to address their legal needs. The UHL will also be tasked with reporting on the legal situation of refugees, participating in community-based projects, and conducting legal awareness sessions. The position requires a proactive approach to resolving legal issues and a commitment to upholding the principles of human rights and the UNHCR's mandate.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UHL will undertake a variety of duties, including but not limited to: providing legal advice and assistance to Afghan and Iraqi refugees; representing beneficiaries in courts and tribunals; reporting on the legal situation of refugees in designated provinces; participating in DSC sessions and community projects; intervening in deportation cases; conducting legal awareness sessions; maintaining relationships with legal experts and entities; and ensuring compliance with UNHCR's Code of Conduct. The UHL is expected to find efficient solutions for legal issues, inform beneficiaries about the free nature of legal services, and actively participate in networks of lawyers dealing with refugee cases. Monthly and annual reporting of activities is also required, along with maintaining a good working relationship with relevant legal authorities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Law and be a certified member of the Iranian Bar Association. A minimum of three years of relevant work experience is required, demonstrating a strong understanding of legal practices and the rights of refugees. The UHL must also have a basic working knowledge of English, enabling effective communication and reporting.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Bachelor's Degree in Law, which provides the foundational knowledge necessary for practicing law and understanding legal frameworks relevant to refugees and asylum seekers. This educational background is essential for effectively navigating the legal landscape in Iran and advocating for the rights of beneficiaries.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of experience as a certified member of the Iranian Bar Association. This experience should include direct involvement in legal practice, particularly in areas relevant to refugee law and human rights. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of handling legal cases and providing legal counsel, as well as familiarity with the legal challenges faced by refugees in Iran.

Languages:
