Job Overview: The position of Online Volunteer for Graphics Design Services at FJDI involves providing creative design support for 17 memorial events planned for 202
The volunteer will be responsible for creating visually appealing materials that include banners, social media flyers, and posters for each event. This role is crucial in helping FJDI effectively communicate the significance of these memorials, which aim to honor the victims of conflict and foster community healing. The volunteer will work closely with FJDI staff to ensure that the designs align with the organization's mission and the specific themes of each memorial event. This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that impacts the lives of those affected by past atrocities in northern Uganda.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design a banner for each of the 17 memorial events that captures the essence of the occasion and honors the victims.
Create social media flyers that can be used to promote the events and engage the community.
Develop posters that will be displayed during the memorial events, ensuring they are visually impactful and convey the intended message.
Collaborate with FJDI staff to understand the themes and objectives of each memorial event.
Revise designs based on feedback from FJDI to ensure they meet the organization's standards and expectations.
Ensure all designs are completed in a timely manner to facilitate event planning and promotion.
Strong portfolio showcasing previous graphic design work, particularly in event promotion or memorialization.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with FJDI staff and incorporate feedback into designs.
A passion for social justice and an understanding of the context of conflict in northern Uganda is preferred.
Educational Background: A background in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Relevant experience and a strong portfolio can compensate for formal education.
Experience: Previous experience in graphic design, particularly for non-profit organizations or community events, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the cultural and historical context of northern Uganda will be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in northern Uganda would be beneficial but is not required.

The role is remote, allowing for flexibility in working hours. Volunteers will not receive financial compensation but will gain valuable experience in graphic design and contribute to a meaningful cause.
